January 2008 – PacifiCorp orders the TR-500 UltraComm system for the important Jim Bridger Mine in Wyoming.  Crews are currently installing the system for an anticipated February, 2008 commissioning.  This system replaces an older VHF system that failed to provide adequate coverage.

January 2008 - Tunnel Radio and Hughes Supply of Beckley, WV announce that they have received the go-ahead to install underground wireless systems in 14 coal mines in West Virginia for Alpha Natural Resources.  This was granted after extensive testing and comparisons with competitive technologies.  The orders include Tunnel Radio’s MSHA approved TR-500, and MineAx tracking systems.   One of the systems to be installed at the Kingwood mine includes 100,000 feet of coverage.  In addition to the order from Alpha Natural, companies like Massey Energy, ICG and several others have selected Tunnel Radio and the TR-500 solution to meet the new West Virginia mining regulations.

December 2007 – Juneau, Alaska, Coeur Mining Corporation’s Kensington Mine commissions the new TR-155 radio system which includes both surface and underground coverage.  Coeur requested a test of the Tunnel Radio MineAx tracking and tagging system and each of the tests were successfully completed to the satisfaction of all parties.  Kensington Mine is the reopening of an older property and is Tunnel Radio’s fourth Alaska mine installation.

December 2007 – CSX Transportation Systems places orders for a large Appalachian tunnel.  A Tunnel Link® system is scheduled to be completed by May of 2008.  Utilization of Tunnel Radio’s UHF Tunnel Link® system allows provides for a decrease in fuel use by up to 28%, and decreases track and brake ware by even larger margins.  Our Tunnel Link® systems are being installed and commissioned all over the Western hemisphere by major players in the Railroad industry.

December 2007 -Tunnel Radio Moves into New Facility  - Tunnel Radio has recently moved into their new facility along Highway 20 just north of Corvallis, Oregon. This new facility will serve as the base for both their corporate and administrative offices, as well as for their manufacturing, sales, service, research and testing facilities.

November 2007 – Tunnel Radio commissions the Tunnel Voice® system for Norfolk Southern Railroad in the Elkhorn Tunnel in West Virginia.  The Tunnel Voice® system provides VHF narrow band, multi-channel communications in this critical tunnel.

October 2007 – Barrick Gold installs a TR-500 UltraComm system in the Cortez Mine near Elko, Nevada.

This multi-channel system, soon to be equipped with MineAx tracking, will make an important contribution in providing communications to this important underground facility, still under development.  This is our second installation of a TR-500 system for Barrick Gold.   The first system was installed several years ago in the Storm Mine, also in the Elko area.  This system is still in operation today.

Fall 2007 - UltraComm and MineAx Tracking System to be eligible for 50% of cost for expense for any advanced equipment purchase for underground mines. This equipment provides a means of communication and tracking for any and all workers throughout underground mines.

September 2007 -Tunnel Radio of America's UltraComm TR-155 and TR-500 Underground Communication Systems receive MSHA and West Virginia Approvals.  Tunnel Radio's Ultracomm systems have been approved as intrinsically safe by the Mine Safety and Health Administration for use in underground coal mines. The West Virginia Office of Miners' Health and Training approval, allowing Ultracomm systems to be used in West Virginia coal mines was granted earlier this year contingent on MSHA approval.  For more information on these systems contact us at: trsales@tunnelradio.com

September 2007 - MineAx Tracking and Tagging System Successfully Deployed Underground.   The new Tunnel Radio of America MineAx Tracking and Tagging System was recently deployed underground in over 10,000 feet of tunnel at an Arizona copper mine.  This installation used an existing UltraComm TR-500 Leaky Feeder System to transport MineAx tag reader data to the surface.  This design eliminates the need for dedicated hardwire, fiber, ethernet or wireless facilities for connectivity to the surface.  The outstanding lateral coverage capability of the TR-500 system allows maximum flexibility for the remote placement of MineAx tag readers.  Readers only need to be in the TR-500 system coverage envelope to communicate with the surface. It should be noted that MineAx system devices have multi-mode communication capabilities including hardwire, ethernet and wireless allowing device placement where needed.  For more information on these systems, contact us at: trsales@tunnelradio.com
